If you grabbed a snack from a vending machine at the airport or done a load of laundry at a public laundromat or even plugged in recently you probably interacted with the cashierless economy.
Now the global payments and software company just released its Q1 2026 earnings and joining us to break down the quarter as well as the boom in unattended commerce is that who is Yair Nechmad, CEO of Nayax. good morning.
To have you here.
So first and foremost, I do want to ask you when consumers think of payment processing, they may think of platforms that rely on a cashier actually being present in a coffee shop or a restaurant.
Now I understand that NA dominates the unintended space.
So how operating in a self-service environment gives you a competitive advantage versus say what we see in the traditional retail payments sector.
Oh, it's uh thank you for, for the question.
I think everybody knows that payment uh is uh in the, in the role of reducing the friction.
And in unattended there is a different friction than the unattended.
I'll give you some examples regarding the payment.
You have to install the units within the device or within the machines.
And the machines are not really the same protocol, so you have to really to make sure that your machine is our pulse is working perfectly with the machine, and there's more than 40 verticals of this kind of solutions of unattended like the EV or the vending machine or the snack machine or the massage chair.
So this is one big friction.
The other friction, of course, is the payment processing and the payout.
It's carrying a few players like the choirs or the issuers and the operator and the post solution, and we're carrying all of this in one stop solution.
The big advantage of NX is a platform that has everything built in and just one signed contract with NAX enables the customers to keep doing his business quite smoothly.
I understand one of your biggest growth factors is electric vehicles.
So tell us how rapidly the EV industry is abandoning the app-only model in favor of tap and pay and how large of a revenue stream will this become for?
So today still not the big part of Nike.
Nike's unattended business, the regular business of more than 20 years, is the vending machine, the unattended, and all the rest of the unattended business.
The EV is emerging from starting the last 3 or 4 years.
It started with the DC chargers that equipped mostly with the with the apps and then moved to a car present.
We are depending on the regulation to impose the man. to put and operator to put an application a post that is what you call easy to work with like any other retail.
Now it's coming to the US and Europe, and we're seeing the DC chargers are all coming with a quid with a card present.
It is not yet fully into the slow chargers, the AC chargers, but it's really coming.
We believe that we'll have millions of units at the end of the decade and beyond that will carry a car presents solution on the EV chargers.
And I understand that NA issued optimistic guidance for the rest of the year and you're projecting earnings for sure to jump in while continuing to expand your recurring revenue model into new vertical so giving some of the ongoing cost management challenges as well as macro headwinds tell us about the profit target as well as the growth trajectory here.
So we have a midterm trajectory of $1 billion revenue, so it means that we have to triple ourselves from 2025 to the year 2028 with a 50% gross margin and 30% adjusted debit.
These are the targets.
We, we're seeing a lot of momentum around around our business on the global level, not just in the US and Europe, but all the rest of the world.
We are serving today more than 100 countries.
And the momentum is quite strong because the movement between cash to cashless is becoming more and more prominent in the unattended business.
We still have millions of locations to cover with our with our solution.
I think the way that we exercise to make it happen is with the go to markets that carrying from the resellers, distributors, e-shop, OEM, all of the, all the, all the channels are part of the Nike ecosystem, and we see this as a very strong momentum for the coming years.
And finally, before I let you go, we have about 60 seconds here so I do want to ask you about the software beyond the swipe for your company.
So how does a potential laundromat owner and even a station operator track data and why would you say this is more valuable than just say taking a cut of the transaction.
So we, we, we believe that the right, the right way is to, to wrap everything together in 111 solution.
Uh, if, if it will be cut to different uh uh software and hardware, it will be much more friction for, for the customers.
So even a laundromat or any kind of uh operator, uh, we, we see this as the best, the best way for uh uh winning customers and for customers to grow the business.
Well, we will have to leave it there for today, but thank you so much for joining us and as always, thank you so much for sharing your insights as well as your perspective.
