Behind the Scenes: How Money 20/20 is Recognizing Industry Excellence
Joining me now is Waia Chesterton, VP of awards for Money 2020.
You are so lucky.
What a great job.
Thank you.
I know it's very exciting.
And speaking of exciting, this is the first edition.
Yes, so why did you guys start this?
We've been thinking about awards for a long time, um, but mostly because we've been speaking to our customers and what the feedback we were receiving is we really wanted a sort of global independent platform.
That recognizes the work in the industry.
So we thought this is the year and we're running our first edition in October.
Oh, OK, tell me about the different categories.
OK.
So we focused on 5 main categories that is banking, of course, payments, then we've done partnerships, startups, and then our final one is diamond category.
Ah, and diamond category, our own president of the NYSE Lynn Martin has a role there.
Yes, she's Actually the president and sits at the helm of that award category, and then we have this incredible jury from around the world that will be sitting across all of those five categories.
Each category has a president and a selection of jurors on that category that will be evaluating the work that people be presenting in the in the entries.
Tell me about these jurors.
How do you pick these jurors?
Who gets to do that?
Oh, I know.
They get quite a cool job.
It's it's gonna be really interesting.
So we've um.
We actually opened you could nominate yourself or nominate someone that you thought that would be good as a juror.
We had hundreds of people apply, and then what we really wanted to ensure was that we had a really good mix of kind of global representation, so regional, and then a real good mix of expertise because we wanted people right from C-suite right down to people that are in the weeds of the detail really evaluating the work so it's gonna. really, really robust.
Yeah, you get a holistic picture exactly.
So when did you open for entries?
How's that going?
When did the entries close?
I will tell you all of that.
So we opened for entries in April.
We've actually had hundreds of entries come in already.
Entries close on the 29th of July, and then what will happen is from the 29th of July right through to October, the jewelry will be getting together and evaluating. the work and the first round will announce our shortlist, which will happen second half of September and then the actual winners won't be announced until on site in Las Vegas.
Um, so we have got a few surprises, you know what we're like at 2020.
We've got a few surprises up our sleeves, and we'll be announcing that with a big awards celebration at our Vegas show.
Oh, so a lot to look forward to, but most importantly, there's still time to get in there.
Yes, quickly.
Well, thank you so much.
Thank you.
