The one and only Mikaela Shiffrin joins me now. Can we give it up for this Olympic champion right here? The most decorated women's US skier in Olympic history. Really grateful for your time. Congratulations on all of the success as of late, especially at the last Olympic Games.
Thank you.
I know it's been, I can't even imagine what the last four weeks or so since coming back from Italy have been like. Have you had any time to reflect? And for the rest of us who are huge fans of yours in the sport, what does the post-Olympic sprint look like for you?
Honestly, when I'm looking at this room, it kind of feels like this whole room is just stuffed into my brain. It's been like quite a whirlwind. You know, after the Olympics, I went right back and finished out the World Cup season. And so there was a lot to do there. We had races, five, six weeks of racing after the Olympics. And I was working to secure the overall season title. The slalom season title was secure, but finishing out the slalom season as well. there was kind of a lot to do so after the Olympics we got like right down right back into it and now looking back it's crazy how this season Sometimes it feels like it didn't happen. But we're talking about it, so it did. So yeah, it's been a whirlwind. Very exciting.
You know, the rest of us who have day jobs and go to work every day, we love our weekends. Do you ever get time off? Do you get the opportunity to decompress? Or as soon as you're off the slopes, are you kind of doing... Very generous of your time. Are you doing more interviews and things like this constantly?
I think that this sort of time frame of my job is definitely very different than what maybe a standard office job, work job might look like. Oh my gosh, work job might look like. But it's maybe not so much built in weekdays and weekends. We actually work on the weekends kind of a thing. But it's more like in the little quiet moments in the day that you can whatever, take a moment to breathe, maybe take a quick nap, I don't know, have a coffee, just like appreciate the surroundings that we're in and get to travel around the world. And sometimes you have to take a step back and look around and look up and appreciate where we are and all the fun things I get to do. Yeah, it's It definitely looks different, for sure. And I'm grateful for that.
Of course. And we're very grateful for you for joining us, not just for the show, but for the closing bell as well. I do want to ask about your new project. It's called What's the Point? with Michaela Schifrin, presented by Stiefel. What can people expect, and how did this all come together?
Yeah, well, the kind of idea for this podcast was born. I started a YouTube channel. several years ago, and we were doing some kind of behind-the-scenes look at my life and ski racing and things like that, and then just sort of birthed the idea, that's a weird way to say it, but had the idea of transforming into a podcast because of some really cool conversations I had with competitors, with teammates, and just thinking, gosh, we should record some of these conversations because it's inspiring for me and it helps me to actually explore my own curiosity and gain perspective on life and what it means to other people to be motivated and what gets them inspired, what gets them out of bed, and whether it's sport or it's music or if it's numbers or if it's anything, things that really strike someone's curiosity and get them excited about what's to come. I was thinking a lot about this and thinking about my own, you know, idea of what the point is and just wondering what it would be like to talk to people about that. And I'm very, very thankful to CFL for being this title sponsor and helping support this project and getting it off the ground because it's been, we've had such great feedback already and just in our first season. I have appreciated these conversations so much and really taking a totally different side. Like normally I'm the one being interviewed, but to be the one hosting the conversation is a different, a different world, a different skill, and I'm so excited to develop that.
Yeah, well you're an amazing guest as well. I'm really grateful for your time. The great Michaela Schiffern. Thank you so much for joining us. Congratulations on everything. Enjoy your weekend. Hope you get some rest.
